Good call Banger, it's grown on me. 

I tried daba. I suppose this will be the 2008 discussion thread.

 

I dug the Bon Iver instantly, the song writting is top notch, but I think that sort of folk pop aesthetic is quickly growing archaic So it didn't quite reach my top 10. 

You still like Fruit Bats though, right Track?

Yeah which is why I hope they do something different for the upcoming record. Maybe hit a more ethereal, possibly psychadelic, sound. The sort of thing Mouthfuls hinted at.

 

Not that the folk pop genre is stale it seems to have hit a creative speed zone of sorts. But it's not a crisis, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy made it on to a lot of 2008 lists.

Please conduct the music talk in the "official 2008 Best of 2008: The Thread"...thread, sir.

The Non-Music forum always does better than the Music forum although the other 95% of the site is devoted to music so that makes sense.

About to watch Empire Records while studying (surprise!). 

I bought Step Brothers and Tropic Thunder today with a gift card.

Step-Bros is such a stupid movie, but I can't help it.

 

I also thought Tropic Thunder was awesome,  dispite the tons of negagive things my friends said about it.

Tropic Thunder was weird because it tricked me. It starts by satirizing a dumb Hollywood action movie, then becomes the dumbest of Hollywood action movies, and yet I still didn't want the guy to die when the truck blew up (even though I knew I shouldn't).
