...ever talked your parents into a mac or something else technological?
Its so frustrating. My mom just doesn't get it. And Im sick of fixing her stupid PC. |

I really tried to talk my parents into a mac, but my dad says he doesn't want to pay for the prettiness. I tried to explain that in my experience (with both macs and my mum) it would actually worthwhile getting her a mac because it'd be easier to use and fix and whatnot, but he's still suspicious.
I also *almost* had my mum signing up for gmail, but my dad found out at the last minute and talked her out of it. |

I think I'm making headway with my mom.
If she still refuses, I'm just not fixing her crap anymore. Its getting ridiculous.
I'm proposing a new mac and splitting a time capsule for both of us. |

My dad is my mum's primary PC fixer, so I do understand that he doesn't want to deal with a system he's entirely unfamiliar with -- I just wish I could've convinced them that there would be much less fixing required.
Good luck with your proposal. |

enjoy the generation gap, and im content to leave the old people to their devices.
I do get annoyed though when my grandmother asks me to mail physical pictures instead of email. |

this thread is pretty funny. i got my parents a high speed connection about 2 years ago. I went back to visit them about a month after it was installed and they had already canceled and disconnected it. :(

I gave my grandparents an old PC of mine and hooked up DSL for them. They eventually figured out how to use google, but strangely enough, the hardest thing for them to understand was the concept of 'right click'.

hahaha Same goes for my parents. They just don't understand the concept of the right click. |

I actually tried to talk my parents out of technical regression. My mom started out with a Mac (the roots of my lifetime devotion!) but has now switched to windows. Now she won't even admit the suckiness of Vista. Grumble.

I talked my dad into it, and then reaped the rewards as he handed me his new laptop after deeming it too confusing
