Brit-pop fans all across the UK are getting their knickers in a twist over the latest Leona Lewis single. The British X-factor winner is covering Snow Patrol's radio-rock anthem "Run" in her bid to grab the coveted Christmas No.1 spot in the British Singles Chart.
The song, dubbed a 'hysterical demolition' of Snow Patrol's original by the NME, is being released as a single due to fan pressure. Lewis's record label, Sony BMG, initially intended to simply include the track as a bonus on the just-in-time-for-Christmas re-release of the singer's debut album. But, following Lewis's performance of the song, flanked by a gospel choir, on the X-Factor a few weeks ago, the record label has succumbed to public demand and "Run" will be released as a single in the run up to Christmas.
