Jonas Brothers have third best debut of 2008

The Jonas Brothers didn’t reach the 600,000-700,000 copies sold predictions of last week with their new album A Little Bit Longer, but their teeny-bopper fans picked up 517,000 copies of the album—enough to make it the number three debut of 2008.

The 517,000 copies in the first week mark is solid, but it was nearly doubled by the mark that Lil Wayne set in June, with 1,006,000 copies sold of Tha Carter III in its first week. Which begs the question, if the Jonas Brothers, who have a huge fanbase of young girls with parents who have a disposable income to meet their cultural needs, can’t beat Weezy, then who can?

Also as predicted, the Jonas Brothers became the first group since NSync to have two albums in the top ten, as their last album moved back into the top ten. The trio are also heavily featured on the number 8 album, the Camp Rock soundtrack [Billboard]
